Chatrium Expands Luxury Footprint with Lacol Khao Yai Resort

Khao Yai, Thailand, Haew Suwat WaterfallThe Splendid Evolution of Lacol Khao Yai: A Testament to Chatrium’s Luxurious Vision.

Lacol Hotel Khao Yai, once a hidden gem nestled amidst Thailand’s vast natural landscape, has gracefully emerged into the limelight under the prestigious banner of Chatrium Collection. This transformation symbolizes a significant leap for Chatrium Hospitality Group, known for its impeccable taste in luxury and hospitality.

This resort epitomises elegance, positioned near the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Khao Yai National Park. Its recent induction into the esteemed Chatrium Collection illuminates the resort’s potential to harmonize luxury with nature’s tranquillity.

Upon our arrival, the grandeur was palpable. Journeying just over 160 kilometres from Bangkok, the resort’s General Manager, Thawintorn ‘Natt’ Kanungkid, greeted us with genuine warmth. His enthusiasm mirrored the vibrancy of the 125 sophisticated guest rooms, each boasting modern amenities and unparalleled views of Thailand’s serene mountain ranges.

But the true essence of Lacol Khao Yai lies beyond its splendid accommodations. The exclusive, transparent Domes offer guests a unique dining ambience, merging comfort with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama. Limited to just four, these domes are a sanctum of private luxury, making them an exquisite choice for those precious, intimate moments.

In our dialogue with GM Thawintorn, he unveiled ambitious plans to amplify the resort’s offerings. Since joining the Chatrium Collection, the past month alone has already witnessed an uptick in business. The resort thrives with a strong clientele base from Singapore and India, yet the aspiration to diversify and tap into a broader market remains.

A staunch advocate for sustainable practices, Thawintorn accentuated the resort’s organic garden, the heart of their culinary magic. Not only does this emphasize the commitment to eco-friendly initiatives, but it also ensures guests relish the freshest produce during their stay.

Amid the challenges, notably the labor shortage post-Covid, Thawintorn remains optimistic, emphasizing opportunities in the hospitality sector for budding professionals. His vision aligns with many establishments across Thailand’s northeast, indicating a bright future for the region.

Beyond its architectural prowess, the resort’s vicinity to Khao Yai National Park—Thailand’s premier national park established in 1962—adds an allure for nature enthusiasts. The park, sprawling 2,168 square kilometres, houses diverse fauna, from the majestic Great Hornbills to the elusive tigers.

The nearby attractions beckoned as we navigated the leafy lanes leading to the resort. The list was endless, from the illustrious wine yards of PB Valley and Granmote Valley to the Bonanza Exotic Zoo and the Khaoyai Art Museum.

Lacol Khao Yai’s induction into the Chatrium Collection heralds a new era for luxury tourism in Thailand. As part of Chatrium Hospitality Group’s robust portfolio, spanning over 40 hotels across Thailand, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, it’s evident that the horizon of luxury hospitality is only set to expand.
