Mandarin Oriental Crowned Top Luxury Hotel Brand of 2023

Oetker Hotel_La_Palma_hero_exterior_7023The prestigious LTI – Luxury Travel Intelligence – has unmasked this year’s cream of the luxury hotel crop. Unlike ordinary lists, LTI’s methodology is anchored in a meticulously devised algorithm, reflecting a brand’s dedication, ethos, and continuous investments.

In a riveting culmination of a year’s assessment, Mandarin Oriental ascends to the pinnacle for the first time, followed closely by the Oetker Collection. With just a mere 0.1% differentiation between these top contenders, it highlights the tight competition and sheer dedication each brand showcases in this ever-evolving sector.

LTI’s evaluative criterion has 130 touch points, solely focused on overall brand performance rather than individual properties. A maximum accumulative score of 4663 is achievable, encompassing elements such as brand passion, commitment, management quality, and more. How brands channel their investments, especially concerning property refurbishments and expansions, significantly influences the rankings.

Let’s unveil the 2023 rankings:

  1. Mandarin Oriental – 81.4% (Previously 2nd)
  2. Oetker Collection – 81.3% (From 6th)
  3. Auberge – 79.6% (Slipped from 4th)
  4. Six Senses – 79.0% (Last year’s leader)
  5. Aman – 78.8% (Stable at 5th) … (continue with the rest of the list)

Moreover, LTI has focused on brands like 1 Hotels, Alila, Park Hyatt, Ritz Carlton, and more, monitoring them closely throughout the year.

Notably, brands with fewer than ten properties but exhibiting extraordinary performance in LTI’s assessments include the likes of Bulgari, Capella, and Virgin Limited Edition.

Michael Crompton, the visionary behind LTI, expressed his insights on the close contest. He stated, “Matching the sector’s explosive growth with top-tier management and staff is a monumental challenge. This will significantly shape the leader board’s future.”

For Mandarin Oriental, this year’s ascendancy isn’t just by chance. Their consistent performance and the buzz around the forthcoming London Mayfair property could be the game-changer.

Two Asian stalwarts, Peninsula and Raffles, have also clinched their deserving spots in the top 12. Their relentless commitment to redefining luxury hospitality hasn’t gone unnoticed.
