Vietjet - logoIn a strategic move to cater to the escalating travel demands of the Lunar New Year holidays, Vietjet has impressively augmented its fleet with two more aircraft under a wet-lease arrangement. This recent expansion brings the number of aircraft dedicated to meeting the holiday rush to six, supplementing Vietjet’s fleet of 105. It showcases the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity across its 125 routes spanning Vietnam and international destinations.

With the Lunar New Year marking one of Asia’s most celebrated holidays, travel enthusiasm is at its peak. In a forward-looking initiative to tap into the burgeoning market of Chinese tourists, Vietjet inaugurated the Shanghai to Ho Chi Minh City route in December 2023, thus knitting closer ties between these two dynamic cities. The airline is set to further broaden its horizon by introducing the Chengdu to Ho Chi Minh City route on February 10, 2024, the first day of the Lunar New Year. This new route is poised to offer travellers from Chengdu a seamless gateway to Vietnam, enabling them to immerse in the country’s distinctive Lunar New Year festivities.

Vietjet’s strategy extends beyond meeting the immediate travel demand; it enriches the traveller’s journey. The added flight capacity encompasses popular Vietnamese tourist hotspots, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Phu Quoc, Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Da Lat. This expansion is explicitly tailored to cater to the wanderlust of Chinese tourists, offering them a plethora of options to explore Vietnam’s rich cultural tapestry and breathtaking landscapes.

Over the last two months, Vietjet has been proactive in broadening its international flight network, introducing routes to coveted destinations such as Shanghai, Vientiane, Siem Reap, Busan, and several Australian cities, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. This network expansion diversifies travel options for Chinese and international tourists and reinforces Vietjet’s position as a key player in facilitating spring travels.

2023 saw Vietjet soaring to new heights, operating 133,000 flights and serving 25.3 million passengers, marking an astounding 183% year-on-year growth. This figure notably includes over 7.6 million international travellers. The airline’s strategic expansion continued with 33 new international and domestic routes, broadening its reach to 125 routes globally. Vietjet’s relentless pursuit of growth and commitment to connecting cultures and destinations underscore its pivotal role in the global aviation sector, promising an even brighter future as it navigates the skies with agility and foresight.
